But, of course, when I do that I'm limited to screen mirroring only as long as my battery is running because the dongle goes into my charging port on my phone. I can't screen mirror remotely from my phone to my TV, which is early generation flat screen and not a smart TV, but with an HDMI cord and a dongle I bought that allows it to work that way. I have tried to Google myself silly figuring out what might be going on. But within a couple of seconds of connecting to the Roku, and the Roku puts up a little purple screen that shows a small device and a large TV screen so it looks like something's going to happen, then the connection drops, Roku goes back to its home screen, and my phone shows no devices are available for connection. I've already been into my Roku settings and it sees the LG G5 and also has an abled no prompts necessary for connection.

What ends up happening is that my phone sees the Roku unit and after it finishes searching it shows it's connecting. I had one of the very first generation Roku's but I haven't used it for 3 or 4 years so I got it all set up and was excited about the option to screen mirror my phone to watch content that I can't cast.Įverywhere I look shows me the exact same information, which is basically to go to my settings in my LG G5, share and connect, select the device, and then, supposedly, Voila! Except there is no Voila! Unfortunately the WiDi installer quit after it indicated it was not compatible with the hardware (probably the Wireless adapter).Hi, I just recently purchased a Roku Express Plus.

Win 7 does not natively support Miracast, but you can install the (now unsupported) Intel WiDi driver software. I did try to get Miracast to work using an old Acer laptop running Win 7. In any case I have not yet found a good reason why Miracast should not work with Win 10 on my hardware. However, am I right in thinking that, with Chromecast, you are limited to mirroring content from a Google Chrome browser? One reason I chose a Roku streamer is that I don't have a smart phone or a tablet, so a Chromecast device would be of limited use. Neither of them look particularly good on the screen.

Mirroring from an Android where Google hasn't disabled Mirracast has always been somewhat of a hit.

Mirroring from a Windows PC has always been mostly a miss. Whatever I try, the Roku device does not show up. I even tried disabling the wired ethernet connection to the router and using WiFi instead. Having read that Miracast only works over WiFi, I ensured that the wireless card in the PC is also enabled. In my case, the PC is normally connected to my wireless router using a gigabit Ethernet cable. However, another forum suggests Miracast should work on a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960:. Miracast: Not Supported by Graphics driver

So the PC (graphics card & drivers) appear to support Miracast. Wireless Display Supported: Yes (Graphics Driver: Yes, Wi-Fi Driver: Yes) 'netsh wlan show driver' in a command window on the PC shows:. I've checked that mirroring is enabled in the 'settings' menu on the Roku. However, I have been unable to use it to mirror the display on my Win 10 Desktop to the TV. I recently bought a Roku Express for my TV.
